I am trying to understand how the forward proxy handles user authentication/identification when SSL is set to bypass when there is no agent running on the endpoint.

+11If there is no agent on the machine, the machines traffic will then be identified in the Netskope UI by its source ip. I assume you are referring to a machine/server using IPSec or GRE method.
